Tomographic ENvironmental Sections

The study fits in the Environmental Design field, in close relationship with Environmental Applied Physic, with the aim of focusing on open space even before on buildings. In the world scene this issue begins to grow in importance in relation to increased awareness of climate change and global warming, but also about the change of living habits, more and more addressed to inhabit public space than the always smaller private space.
The research focuses on the definition of a method to study and analysis the energy exchanges in urban public spaces, based on tomographic restitution. All environmental design software with CFD modules (Computational Fluid Dynamics) mainly make use of tomography for the results graphical rendering because through tomography, i.e. vertical and horizontal sections of a 3D model, it is possible to define the behaviour of a physical phenomenon at the equilibrium of the system.
The TENS method consists in transversal cuts of the virtual simulation, defining the characteristics of the air element by the wind speed, temperature and humidity. To simplify, as a magnetic resonance (physical medicine), we are all accustomed to see it even if we need a physician who interprets it. Like a patient, open spaces are virtually dissected so that all its components can be analysed separately. Therefore through tomographic plane images becomes very easy visualize and understand three-dimensional microclimate dependent effects.
